The 32nd iteration of the WWE Royal Rumble returns late January in 2019. A slew of high profile championships will be on the line. It is also the event that lays a very solid foundation for this year’s Wrestlemania.
WWE has taken the 2019 Royal Rumble to Chase Field of Phoenix, Arizona. The date for the mega WWE PPV event is set for January 27. Athletes from the RAW, Smackdown and 205 Live brands are set to make the stage (or ring) this time around. Though there is no talk of NXT Wrestlers featuring as they did.
When does WWE Royal Rumble take place
The Royal Rumble 2019 will be live from Chase Field at 5 PM ET. The main-cards will start some two hours later at 7 PM ET, January 27. People who can’t attend the event in person have the option of paying for the PPV event on television. In case, you are far from a television set, or unable to pay the high PPV charge, use Potato Streams where people watch PPV Events all the time.

Who are the Men’s participants in Royal Rumble’s main events
30 Men gather in a WWE ring once a year in the lead up to the Wrestlemania. The 30 names for this year have already been announced and they contain some familiar faces as well as a few surprising omissions. Here’s the names confirmed for the main event of the Royal Rumble 2019:
John Cena, Dean Ambrose, Andrade Almas, Baron Corbin, Seth Rollins, Jeff Hardy, Apollo Crews, Bobby Lashley, Elias, Jinder Mahal, Samoa Joe, Drew McIntyre, Kofi Kingston, Big E, R-Truth, and Xavier Woods.
The winner of the Royal Rumble gets a free-pass to challenge the Champions at Wrestlemania. Some of these names are obviously strong candidates and seasoned pros. However, last year showed us that rookies can make it at the Royal Rumble too.
All the Championships on the line in the Royal Rumble
It is not just the 30-man mega event that brings in throngs of crowds to catch a glimpse of the Royal Rumble. There are a number of other Championships being fought over. Some of the biggest attractions from Chase Field’s event include:
- 30-Woman Royal Rumble
- WWE Championship
- Universal Championship
- SmackDown Tag Team Championship
- United States Championship
- RAW Women’s Championship
- SmackDown Women’s Championship
- Cruiserweight Championship
WWE Championship at the Royal Rumble
Daniel Bryan will take on AJ Styles for the WWE Championship in Phoenix, Arizona. Needless to say, it will be one of the biggest attractions for this year’s PPV WWE Royal Rumble.
Universal Championship match
Brock Lesnar v Finn Balor is the surprise match-up at the Universal Championship. Balor only got the chance to fight Brock Lesnar after the previous arrangement with Braun Strowman was left in the lurch due to an apparent injury. However, Balor is now unofficially backed by John Cena himself.

SmackDown Tag Team Championship match at the Royal Rumble
The Bar take on The Miz and his partner Shane McMahon for the Tag Team title in the Smackdown brand of WWE. The Miz and Shane are new partners and The Bar would look to take advantage of being the better team.
Rusev and Shinsuke Nakamura fight for the United States Championship
This is an ongoing storyline in the United States Championship. The rivalry between reigning US champion Rusev is set to intensify during the Royal Rumble as Shinsuke Nakamura fights to get what according to him is his title. Oh, and none of them is American.
